Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy/ PRP

Platelet rich plasma therapy (PRP) can promote the healing of muscle, tendon and joint injuries by releasing bio-active proteins including growth factors that accelerate tissue repair and regeneration. This innovative treatment can enhance the body's ability to heal itself.

PRP therapy is performed by drawing a small amount the patients own blood, spinning it down in a centrifuge which concentrates the blood and growth factors. This concentrated plasma containing active growth factors is then injected into the injury site, stimulating the local healing process.

The potential benefits of this procedure include significant improvement in pain symptoms along with the return of optimal functioning. This may alleviate the need for more aggressive treatment such as longterm medication or surgery.

PRP therapy promotes healing in the following injuries:

  • tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
  • chronic muscle strain
  • tendinits
  • joint pain
  • liotibial band syndrome (ITB)
  • rotator cuff injuries
  • knee injuries
  • chronic ankle sprain

You might have heard of this innovative treatment for injuries featured in the Wall Street Journal as well as various other publications. For further information about how this treatment has helped several professional athletes, click here.
